Insurance Institute for Highway Safety recognizes Toyota
As of December 2015, nine models that fall under the Toyota Worldwide umbrella of vehicles are named “Top Safety Pick+” by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. With the most awards on this annually published list of any automobile manufacturer, Toyota continues to lead the world in overall vehicle safety.

As the IIHS raises the bar with even tougher criteria than in years past, the Top Safety Pick+ awards offer a prestigious designation that indicates Toyota’s commitment to consumer safety and satisfaction. Winners must maintain good ratings in crash worthiness tests and have available front crash prevention systems in place in any vehicles eligible for the award. Automatic braking capabilities and superior or advanced rated front crash prevention systems are also required as standard equipment.
“At Toyota, we continue to focus on the safety and peace of mind of our customers. We are proud that IIHS has recognized our commitment to helping protect drivers and passengers.”
-Dino Triantafyllos, Toyota’s North American Chief Quality Officer
Toyota added pre-collision systems to both the RAV4 and the Avalon which earns both vehicles a superior rating for front crash prevention. The Scion iA received special recognition for its low price combined with its pre-collision system that is standard equipment on the new Scion iA vehicles.
